Wellness Policy

Public Involvement: Grace Children’s Home gains public involvement in the Wellness Policy by holding, at a minimum, an annual Wellness Policy Committee Meeting which is open to the public.  Minutes from this meeting and the Wellness Policy will be published to the Grace Children’s Home website.

Goals

Nutrition Promotion and Education: Grace Children’s Home staff will talk with residents about healthy meal choices and encourage healthy eating habits at least weekly with residents.

Physical Activity: Grace Children’s Home staff will provide daily opportunities for residents to engage in physical activity.  Residents will engage in physical activity at least 5 days a week.

Other School Based Activities: Residents will engage in a minimum of two learning experiences a week outside of their normal school day.

Nutrition Guidelines: All residents are to be offered balanced meals in the correct portion size, which are based upon current USDA standards. Administrative staff will review menus and food offerings on a routine basis.

No food or beverages will be sold or otherwise made available immediately before or after the serving of breakfast or lunch.

Vending machines are not allowed on the premises of this agency.

The Director of Programs is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of progress toward the Goals outlined in the School Wellness Policy. The Director of Programs shall also be responsible for measuring the success of the Wellness Policy.
